More than a century of transformation
The Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey lit its blast furnaces in 1900 and for nearly a century forged the steel that built Mexico. Today, that same ground is a 144-hectare public park where industrial heritage lives alongside culture, sports and nature.
Since 2001, Parque Fundidora is a Site Museum of Industrial Archaeology: 16 historic buildings and 127 pieces of steelmaking machinery are preserved as a living testimony of our history.

1900
The Fundidora is born
The Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey is founded.
1986
The steelworks close
After 86 years of operation, the blast furnaces shut down.
1988
Presidential decree
The grounds are designated as a great public park for Nuevo León.
2001
Site Museum
The park opens and is designated a Site Museum of Industrial Archaeology.
2007
Paseo Santa Lucía
The navigable river opens and the park hosts the Universal Forum of Cultures.
